Pickleball near Modesto, Illinois

Modesto does not have a confirmed local pickleball court. Jacksonville provides the most dependable nearby play, led by a full weekly open gym schedule at Fitness World Health Club and indoor and outdoor courts at the Bob Freesen YMCA. The Jacksonville pickleball community also runs leagues, clinics, and small tournaments.

Fitness World Health Club

Fitness World at 1521 West Walnut Street in Jacksonville has indoor pickleball and welcomes all skill levels during open gym. Members play free. Weekday morning and midday blocks run throughout the week, with a Wednesday evening session from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday play from 8 to 11 a.m.

Bob Freesen YMCA

The YMCA at 1000 Sherwood Lane has indoor and outdoor pickleball courts with permanent lines, portable nets, lights, locker rooms, restrooms, and water. Court access is tied to YMCA membership. This is the better Jacksonville choice for players who already belong to the Y or want amenities beyond the court.

Nichols Park project

Eight public courts proposed for Nichols Park have not been built. Jacksonville's grant effort shifted toward playground improvements in 2026, so players should not plan a trip around this future court concept.

Lessons and beginner help

Fitness World's all skill open gym provides the best regular starting point. New players can enter a morning or midday session and meet the established OMG Pickleball Club community. The club has also offered dedicated beginner clinics and fundraising instruction events. For individual help closer to a specific schedule, use the local pickleball coaches directory.

Events and recurring play

Fitness World open gym runs Monday and Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. and 12:30 to 2 p.m.; Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m., 12:30 to 2 p.m., and 6 to 9 p.m.; Thursday and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. and 12:30 to 2 p.m.; and Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m.

Monday evening is reserved for OMG Pickleball League from 5:30 to 8 p.m., and the women's league plays Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Fitness World also hosts singles, round robin, glow, and charity tournament events during the year.

Visitor guidance

Fitness World is the clearest visitor route because its schedule offers several chances to play each week, including a Wednesday evening and Saturday morning. Open gym is free for members; nonmembers need guest or day access from the health club. Arriving during a listed session is much more dependable than searching for a game in Modesto.

YMCA members can use the Bob Freesen facility as an alternative with both indoor and outdoor courts. Visitors without a local membership should arrange Fitness World access and choose one of the established open gym blocks.
